A Busy Advent Season

By December 27, 2025January 27th, 2026No Comments

December was a very active and busy month for us and the Residents.

In Advent the Residents went to an Advent Presentation called “Blessed Hope” by the Glen Mohr.

A visit from the Iona students before Christmas surprised and delighted the Residents as each of them received a beautiful handpicked gift from the students.

Thanks to the generosity of the St Patrick’s Cathedral staff we received 20 tickets to “City Sings.” This magnificent Christmas concert featured Glen Cove High School Choir, Long Island; St. Charles Borromeo Choir, Harlem; Young People’s Chorus of New York,
New York Symphonic Brass, and St. Patrick’s Cathedral Choir and Organists along with a special performance by Stephen Costello, tenor of The Metropolitan Opera.

Our good friend and benefactor took us in a large bus to the door of the Cathedral. Although packed, we had excellent seats and the Residents enjoyed every minute of this beautiful Christmas Concert.

The students from MS 101 delighted the Residents with crafts and a performance by the “Fancy Feet Dancers.” The Dixieland Jazz Band also entertained the Residents during the Christmas season.

The generosity of the groups offering to entertain the Residents filled their Christmas season days with lots of fun, parties and entertainment.
